Hutton Henry!!! ~Centre of Universe~

Hutton Henry is the village I live in and I'm sick of the following conversation occurring.

Person - So where do you live?

Me - Hutton Henry.

Person - Where???

It's very annoying, and it gets worse when I have to say "Near Wingate and Station Town". So normally i just say "It's off the A19 a couple of miles from Peterlee". It sometimes seems like Hutton Henry is a whole other planet...

So this page is a BIG tribute to a small village.

FACTS

• Hutton Henry has about 400 inhabitants (not including dogs, cats, other animals, etc.)

• It is a very old village and there are records of it dating back to at least 1800.

• It's main features are a 2 Churches (one is catholic, the other is a 'normal' one no offence to non-normal people), a Primary School (Hutton Henry C of E), a Phone Box (BT), The Village Hall (near one of the 5 bus stops), a Bench on The Green, Summerhill Boarding Kennels and Cattery (where I used to work), The Plough (local pub) and The Post Office (which never opens).

• We have our own Newspaper (A sheet of A4 paper folded in half) called "The Hutton Henry Herald", which goes round once every month. It is made by the community association.

• There are several clubs in the village, most of which meet in the Church Hall on a weekly or fortnightly basis - The Ladies Club, The Youth Club, The Leek Club (Hutton Henry Leek Show is on once a year in about September), The Rambling Club and The Senior Citizens Group.
